Last Saturday was literally jam packed with friends, old and new. In everything we did laughter and screams could be heard, it was quite the challenge to control the class hehehe
It was the last day for Brilliant Crystals to be doing vehicles, and we sang their favorite song “Freight train” a famous mother goose song where kids mimic the actions of vehicles. The picture below is of them pretending to be airplanes. Needless to say, a safe flight and landing was out of the question
Today for Elementary, as a science experiment we made our own lemon fizzy drinks. Drinking them was only part of the fun, they also enjoyed making lemon juice with the mixer as well as stirring the contents while pouring honey into the pot. For some of our students it was apparently their first time ever drinking a fizzy drink, good thing the fizz was mild
Transportation Month for Sparkling Sapphires class!
Sparkling Sapphiresの今月のテーマは乗り物です!
The topic for the Sparkling Sapphires this month is Transportation. The first week was based on transportation that runs on the ground. On the second week, we focused on air transportation. The third week was all about water vehicles. We all enjoyed learning the names and sounds of the vehicles and making crafts based on the topic.
Last week, SS made airplanes out of chop sticks bags. Kids had to blow hard which was pretty challenging even for us adults. It ended up having saliva all over the straws…lol
And this week is based on water vehicles, so we made boats out of empty yogurt cartons, which turned out to be very cute. We actually made them float on water and played with them. That was so much fun!!
Speaking of Transportation, let’s not forget about the role play the we did, Riding the Train!! Students decorated the box train and we then made it run on the railroad. We even had a ticket to hand to the train master!!
It’s always great to see children’s smiles. It makes us teachers feel very blessed.
Like always, Brilliant Crystals had an action packed day last Saturday. We have been focusing on vehicles this month, and on this day we took the puzzle mats, made train tracks and had the kids role play riding on the train. There is never a dull day for our Brilliant Crystals, but they all especially loved the train role play; they kept on begging us to give them another go
The other picture is of them singing “row row row your boat” All of the kids have memorized most of the songs we’ve been singing in January by now, it was so cute to see them pulling each other’s hands back and forth while singing.

Today the elementary kids had fun with a rather messy experiment, where they poured baking soda and vinegar into a volcano made of paper clay and enjoyed a chemical reaction. The foam from the carbon dioxide made the once rock hard volcano really spongy, so they had fun squeezing the mountain too.
Next week we’ll make our own fizzy lemonade and have a small party
Let’s cook in English!
Here’s a rare chance for you to learn how to cook foreign cuisines at Lucky Kids.
Don’t cook much? Haven’t really been to an Eikaiwa school before? No worries, everything will be introductory, and aside from the cooking part, you’ll also be able to enjoy experiencing culture outside of Japan, plus learn English all at the same time
We’d love to see your kids too
The first lesson is:
Date & Time: 2/17(Tue) 9:30-10:30
Menu: Turon (Philippines’ Deep fried banana spring roll)
Instructor: Chris Legaspi
Fee 1000 yen

Last Saturday was the long awaited kite day, we took the kites everybody had made the week before to the park and had fun flying them.
It’s always so nice to see kids running around, full of laughter, but this day was twice as better as usual because their kites were working amazingly well. We were very fortunate to have a strong wind this day! See you all next week
Today was the last day for Elementary class to be doing activities related to magnets. We handed the kids pipe cleaners of different colors and encouraged them to use their imagination to make anything they wanted. The results were nothing short of awesome, one of them made a rabbit and a frog, another a sunflower crafted into a bracelet. They then used the pull of magnets to move their masterpieces around. Fantastic job, guys
We had our first Brilliant Crystals class of the year last Saturday. Since the kids will start learning phonics from April, for our classes until April we will be preparing them for that with different kinds of sounds. For starters we focused on environmental sounds today. Everybody’s biggest highlight of the day was without a doubt the toy bus, they just couldn’t get enough of it
Today we would like to introduce some photos that show how our kids from Sparkling Sapphires spend their day.
Remembering back when they first started, they had no idea h0w a day at LK went, they just sort of walked around. Now they automatically sit down nicely on the cushions without being told, after they’ve gone to the bathroom. They do this as they’re waiting for the teacher, they can’t wait to go to the park
We had three students today, not too many, but that didn’t stop them from singing songs in very loud voices.
Moving on to the picture showing their backs, this is when they’re waiting their turn before a game. Though they sometimes lose themselves to their excitement and cut in line (which is absolutely adorable from my eyes), most of the time the wait-your-turn rule is kept, we are all very proud of the kids for this.
At LK we have a helpers system where one kid is given the task of being a helper for certain tasks such as putting chairs away, handing out lunchboxes at lunchtime etc.
The lunch helper always picks the lunchboxes up and asks, “who’s is this?”
Despite being a bit heavy for them, they always try their hardest to do the same with our (teachers’) lunchboxes too. The sight just melts your heart
Finally the picture at the park. The kids decided to make lots of birthday cakes for us, we became so full lol
As you can see, they tend to suddenly get nervous when asked to smile for a picture.
Sparkling Sapphires
お弁当当番さんは” who’s is this??”「これは誰のですか?」と聞いてお弁当をお友達に渡してくれる役目です。
先生達の重いお弁当箱を持ち上げて一生懸命に”who’s is this?”と聞いている姿は本当に可愛らしいですよ!
