This month’s theme is My neighborhood, and we have been singing songs and making crafts related to the theme.
Last week they made their own stores with paper bags. They were all very nicely done.
This week we role played ordering food at a restaurant. They used convincing crafted menus to order what they want, and enjoyed seeing the teachers work as waitresses.
As for the taste we may never know, but judging from the pictures the kids seem to have had lots of fun!
Today was really warm, wasn’t it? The weather is slowly leaning towards spring Since it’s started to get warm, the Little Diamonds went out on a fishing trip! (inside of course) Written on the backs of the fish swimming happily on the water are the letters of the alphabet, and with the help of their mothers they fished for the fish using chopsticks. Strings are tied to the chopsticks with a small magnet at the end, and they try to catch the fish with the specified alphabet. Everybody had so much fun, and at the end they were seen grabbing at the fish with their hands We did a lot of physical activities today, the picture below is of us playing tug of war, it was really nice to see them pulling hard at the ropes with their tiny hands.

We learnt about the planets again today in line with this months’ topic.
I threw some questions at the kids, and they had to run and touch the corresponding flashcards, and to say they were enthusiastic/ energetic would be a terrible understatement Their competitive side completely took over, and most of them were diving at the cards hahahaha
We have parents day at the end of this month, let’s keep it up and continue learning about space!

Last Saturday was another action packed day for Brilliant Crystals, we had a HUGE class There was no end to the laughter, and what better way to take the laughter one step further but with everybody’s favorite game? T. Chris held the balloon in the air by varying heights, and the kids all tried to jump and whack the balloon. It was very nice to see the kids cheering when it wasn’t their turn, a definite sign of growth I must say
Today we would like to show you how our kids have fun with the alphabet.
As small as they are, our kids still have fun with their ABCs through many games and activities!
After going through their ABCs, we had fun with the ABC railroad. They pretended to be trains as they ran down the tracks with their mommies while singing along to the ABC song.
They also had fun beating the drums to the song. Slow beats and fast beats, drums sure make them happy!
Next time I’m hoping to introduce pictures of them having fun with their numbers
It’s started to become warmly lately, so the Sparkling Sapphires are on a stroll to the park.
On days like this where we have lots of classmates, we use the rope to make our way. Only until a while ago many of them were unable to keep the pace with the others, they often tripped and fell, but lo and behold they don’t seem to have any problems now
The Tamagawa Josui river is on our way to the park, so today we fed the fish some bread crumbs. There were plenty of big fish, so they could finish up even the big chunks that the kids threw
The kids and teachers alike are all waiting for spring!
One of the pictures below show the neighborhood the kids made, cute aren’t they
Around the neighborhood is their theme for the month, and next week they’ll make their own little stores.
For this month Elementary class will be learning about our Solar system! Planets, rocket ships, constellations…every boy’s dream We’ll make it interesting for the girls too of course! We have lots of cool arts and crafts planned, this month is going to be great!
The blog title is a reference to the Dr. Seuss book that we’ll be reading with the kids every lesson, it’s a timeless classic that is sure to pique the kids’ interest towards space. Here is also a youtube link of the song we’ll be singing this month, parents of Elementary please give it a try with your kids if you have the time :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymUHlV074OQ
There’s no place like space(宇宙に勝るところなし)はDr.

Speech class topic for March will be Show and tell. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, show and tell. If anyone of you spent your childhood in an English speaking country, I’m sure you all have fond memories of this tradition, I do too. It was that day which kids looked forward to the most, so I’m very excited to be able to share the experience at Lucky Kids with our Speech class.
Kids will bring their most prized possessions to LK, and will spend the month learning how to give simple presentations on them.
They are set to bring their show and tell items from next week, but the excitement was quite evident this week because this theme is something very personal to to them.

Last Saturday we had a challenging activity ready where the kids divided into two teams and tried to move dried azuki beans from a plate to an icebox. The older kids used chopsticks, while the younger ones used their fingers. All the kids were scrunching up their faces in concentration, it wasn’t easy for the little ones either! We’re hoping to help the kids develop all sorts of skills through fun activities, please look forward to another action packed day this Saturday
