With the topic being on family, for our last day the kids had fun imagining, then making a collage of what their future rooms would look like. We told them they could have anything they wanted in their rooms as it was imaginary, but to our surprise most of them were surprisingly modest (perhaps we are just too greedy hahaha) We learnt a lot on introducing our family members this month, and being able to do that is one of the most important things you can do when conversing with foreigners, we hope our kids retain what they’ve learnt and put it to good use someday

We were blessed with such wonderful weather today, so we went outside to look for different colors and shapes. Once the kids find the specified shape, they get stickers from us teachers. Our kids from SS are pretty good at this kind of thing, so the worksheet was dealt with very quickly, and had lots of fun playing at the park afterwards! As for our indoor activities, we had fun playing with water droppers. They dripped water onto pictures of fruit and colored them, what fun
Learning has never been this fun! The Dazzling Rubies are learning about colors and shapes this month, and yesterday their class was on colors. We had two main games ready: Twister and color toss. I’m sure you all know what twister is, and for color toss the kids were each given a ball, and tried to throw their ball through the shape with the specified color.
We will use this activity for shapes as well. We have two new friends in this class, and it is nice too see them slowly warming up to us and their classmates :)
Starting from this month, our Little Diamonds class has been placing a huge emphasis on music. From rhythmic activities to sing along songs with actions, May has really started off as a musical month for our little friends The picture below is of them singing along to our English translation of 大きな太鼓 with our T. Makiko playing in the background See you all next week!
This month’s theme is on shapes and colors, and the DR are at the moment focusing on shapes. Today was a teamwork activity where they had to make the specified shape using Jenga blocks. Of course there is always the joy of toppling the dominoes, but everybody was paying attention when we explained the shapes, and with the help of the older kids enjoyed the building process as well.
Thinking back to when they first started, our Dazzling Rubies have really grown. The once babies who could barely say their names now confidently scream their answers back to teachers, and some of them can be seen consoling the crying newcomers too! We all have great hopes for this class
It seems it was just a few weeks ago when we were all happily welcoming the start of spring, April has gone by so fast and we’re already in mid – May.
The kids have grown so much over the holidays, their babyishness, if you will, has really diminished.
We teachers are so happy to be able to see their smiling faces again
Our first big event after the holidays was none other than Mother’s day, they all worked hard on their presents, hope all you mothers liked them
This months’ theme will be on color and shapes. Most of the kids have been singing color songs before this month, so a lot of confidence can be seen in their singing, even the usually quiet ones.
