This month’s theme for speech is “How to get good grades”
The kids participated in a workshop on how to get good grades, then practiced reciting/ memorizing the basic procedures taught that day. It’s a very important and practical topic, and we hope they’ll make good use of everything we learn this month.
For speech class this month、 the kids are practicing explaining the procedures to baking cookies.
From ingredients to safety tips, they’ll be reciting it all. The past few months have been crucial in building the speech class’ confidence. Now they can be seen speaking in big and confident tones.
This month for speech class the topic will be on introducing our favorite celebrities!
The kids will profile their favorite celebrities in English, then practice giving introductory speeches on them.
We hope giving them assignments centered around familiar figures in their lives will do good to their motivation. Moms and dads, please look forward to their speeches at the end of the month.
For speech class the kids are always required to learn many sets on phrases depending on the topic. Here is a shot from T. Nel’s popular ball game, where the balls are scattered around the room. The kids have to then pick the balls up and attempt to throw them back in the box, but they have to first say all their phrases. If anybody makes a mistake, the game is reset and all the balls come pouring out again! Not only does this encourage practice, but teamwork as well, and before they know it they’ve memorized not just their own but their friend’s phrases as well.
The Speech kids probably have it the roughest in terms of difficulty for Christmas show preparation, but they are all practicing very hard. Only two weeks left until Christmas show, that’s two more lessons left! Last spurt everybody, let’s give it our all
On a side note, for this month everybody has been practicing nursery rhymes such as Jack and Jill, Humpty Dumpty etc.
The most popular poem we’ve done was Teddy Bear, they had to say out loud the poem while skipping with a jump rope.
Speech class topic for March will be Show and tell. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, show and tell. If anyone of you spent your childhood in an English speaking country, I’m sure you all have fond memories of this tradition, I do too. It was that day which kids looked forward to the most, so I’m very excited to be able to share the experience at Lucky Kids with our Speech class.
Kids will bring their most prized possessions to LK, and will spend the month learning how to give simple presentations on them.
They are set to bring their show and tell items from next week, but the excitement was quite evident this week because this theme is something very personal to to them.

Happy new year, we hope you all had a wonderful time with your families over the holidays.
For this month, speech class will be learning how to describe objects referring to characteristics such as size, weight, shape and color. This day we focused on color, and after learning the names of various shapes, everybody had fun with tan-grams, a new addition to our menu of activities.
Everybody in this class have started to become vocally more active, so we’ll be able to start more challenging word games starting this year
For this week, using the directions we learned the previous week (go straight, turn left/right, stop), we took our kids on an imaginary trip to Tokyo Disneyland. We had an enlarged English map of the theme park printed out, and the kids chose where they wanted to go. The kids would then try and verbally give directions from the entrance to their desired destination.
Jump!

Let’s learn English together!
In our speech classes, we are currently practicing the classical holiday tune “12 days of Christmas”
We were all admittedly worried that we had perhaps set the bar too high, as the song contains several sophisticated words, but this past week has been a very pleasant surprise, to say the least.
Everybody is doing so well, it feels like we’ve got our own glee club at Lucky Kids! Singing is definitely one of the best ways to learn a language, and now that we’ve found out our kids in speech class do not dislike singing that much, the possibilities just continue to grow Please shower your children with praise, they are doing so, so well.
