Today for our afternoon Dazzling Rubies class, we had a total of 11 kids!
It’s always more exciting with lots of friends, and with songs it’s easier to start a chain reaction. This month’s theme has been Summer and Water, and today for crafts we colored and decorated mermaids!
Hang in there guys, the weather will start to get cooler soon!
This month the Dazzling Rubies students have been learning about summer. In class we have been doing a Total Physical Response activity with a summer song, and learning English words related to summer.
One of the words we have been learning is sunglasses. We have been making a Sunglasses craft and a summer hair craft in class. The students had fun using straws to transfer paint onto a picture of a face and coloring sunglasses in their favorite colors.
Every lesson during literacy time, we sing ABC phonics songs and drill the many sounds into the kids, then we play games to test their understanding. This has been an ongoing thing ever since every single one of them joined our school, and as we played the usual identify-the-sound-with-the-picture game today, we were really amazed at how smoothly they figured things out.
Phonics is without a question the most important and fundamental area in learning the English language, and we are really happy that the kids are catching on while having fun at the same time
We had our annual Summer Course this year too! We teachers had many meetings and carefully planned everything out so that the kids could have a good time, and it was all worth it too!
For day one we all introduced ourselves to each other and made friends, and for the entire week we played English games and made crafts. From this year we also added a bit of study into the curriculum as well. Everybody showed active participation with every activity, thanks so much guys!
On Wednesday we had our picnic field trip at Kodaira central park. First off we played at the park on the swings, slides etc.
Blowing bubbles was especially popular with the younger ones, and it was nice to see the older ones looking after them too!
Lunch outside was lively and fun, then afterwards they all played in the shallow pool. Squirting teachers with water guns, diving into the water, every kid had fun in their own way.
On Friday we had our summer festival at Lucky Kids. The kinders made popsicles while the elementary kids made popcorn. We divided into groups and took turns moving around many booths, from face painting to shooting range.
This year’s summer school ended too soon, we look forward to seeing you all in the next!

This past month our Elementary kids have been trying out all sorts of Origami, with instructions given in English.
What started off with shapes soon led to dogs, cats, and even shurikens! They’ve come to understand terms such as fold, crease, turn over etc.
The picture below is one of the hardest ones they tried, we think they did very well!
This month, the Brilliant Crystals have been learning about their family. They have also been improving their ability to recognize and use sight-words in a sentence. This week we reviewed they, we and a. The students were able to use the sightword in a sentence, and link those sight-words to the correct picture. We also made a face to represent their father, mother and other members of their family. The students were very creative with their craft.
This month the Dazzling Rubies have been studying about families and relevant vocab, and much to their delight most of the craft they’ve been doing has involved using actual pictures of their family members.
In this article we’ll introduce one of the crafts they did – a ferris wheel they decorated and pasted photos of their family photos onto. They also took turns replying when asked by the teacher if they were afraid of heights, and if they’ve ever been on a ferris wheel.
Though the rainy season is not yet over, there are many hot and humid days that we just cannot stay away from the swimming pool!
Pre-Sapphires students started playing in the small pool, and they are all having a blast!!!!
Small kids are playing in the smaller pool with teachers, while bigger kids are playing in a 2 meter long pool!
According to the weather forecast, this summer is going to be very very hot. Let’s drink lots of water, and keep our kids and our selves away from having heat sickness.
This month’s kinders are focusing on Family this month. All our crafts are designed to help the kids identify their family members (mom, dad, brother, sister etc) and as most of them use actual photos of their families, excitement levels in our classes are quite high lol
A new song we have been learning this month is The Family song, and as it requires the kids singing to actually know the family vocab, this song has been very effective in getting the kids to memorize them.
The picture below is the song poster for My Family.
今月から新しく習い始めた歌で、The Family songというのがあります。家族関連の単語をしっかり覚えていないと歌うのが難しいので、毎レッスンこれを歌うことでだいぶ子ども達も覚えてきました♪

This month will be a very exciting one for our arts and crafts lovers in Elementary class. We will be making origami crafts, all of which the base is the Sonobe unit. However, as it is with our classes, instructions will not be in Japanese, so everybody will have to pay close attention. Through these crafts they will learn how combining certain shapes lead to another shape. FB: https://www.facebook.com/luckykids.japan instagram: luckykidsofficial Don’t forget to like our fb page and follow our instagram!
